This Ringmaster

'A Tale of Me & You'

If you're travellin',
Down to the river,
Promise you'll show me,
All of the stars.
And if it's rainin',
Down at the river,
Under the moonlight,
I'm pulling the trigger.

I say you're welcome,
To the circus,
Take your seat,
I'll take the stage.

I said I'm a circus,
And still damn hurting,
After all,
Ten long years.

So won't you leave me?
I'm already broken,
Can't you see,
I want to be lonesome.

So sing out a tune,
And play your harp wrong,
Put on a smile,
I'll play these strings strong.

But let me say this,
As I feel weary,
So tired of fighting,
So god damn dreary.

And if you killed me,
Would they have noticed?
That everything,
Wasn't what it seemed.

And I'm still so hungry,
And dying for water,
Whilst you're in your palace,
Like all the performers.

But if I'm the clown,
Then you're the ringmaster,
You put on the show,
You made me a joke.

And If you're travellin',
Down to the river,
Promise you'll show me,
All of the stars.

And if it's rainin',
Down at the river,
Under the moonlight,
I'm pulling the trigger.
