A Simple Tune

'A Tale of Youth'

Just a simple tune,

To sing the blues,

Of joyful youth,

A drink or two.

Oh everyday,
Awake 'till late,

The present aches,
The past awaits.

Oh youthful skin,

A single chin,

A perfect grin,

A gathering.

Of friends and foes,

Where highs were lows,
Where hair grows,

And no one knows.

That these moments,
Roll along,

And then they're gone.

Oh nostalgic blues,

Were always true,
Even through,

The faded view.

When cold was warm,

When night was dawn,

The rules were torn,
And dreams were scorn.

When home was home,

You never alone,

And never owned,
A single loan.

When Dad and Mum,

Came as one,

And everyone,

Just got along.

And these moments,

Roll along,

And then they're gone.

Oh cocaine blues,
Instead of gloom,

Where no one knew,

What you're going through.

The morning dew,
Was grey not blue,

What's a boy to do?

When he's outta tune.

Oh drunken days,

And broken ways,

The latest craze,

Another phase.

When yes was no,

When rain was snow,

When stay was go,

Where no ones knows.

That these moments,

Roll along,

And then they're gone.

Just a simple tune,

To sing the blues,
I've wasted all,
All my youth.
