The Carnival is Ours

'A Tale of Passion'

We went down to sing,

The tales of the past,

We danced into a trap,
We fell from first to last.

We spoke of our dreams,

A dead end world to me,
We cried for history,
For hanging all the free.

And we're running from the carnival,
We're running from the rain,
And all these wasted years are just,

Running down the lane,
And we're trying to be marvellous,

My Juliet with scars,
The way you brush your hair is just,
Tearing us apart.

Oh we went down to see,
If dreamers had learned to be,

It's only you and me,
Some worn out company.

And we're going to the mountain high,
We're going to be gone,

As all these tired games are just,
Wrong for everyone,
'Cause it's all just a eulogy,
Of society in pain,

You can colour all your rainbows,
But colour in your grey.

Oh we went down to see,

If the fire still burned,
If the smoke still turned,

If our love can still learn.

And we're going to the carnival,
We're going to the rain,
Press your lips to mine my dear,

'Cause this fire still burns,
And we're going to be marvellous,
My Juliet with scars,
The way you brush your hair tonight,

Sets my heart on fire.

Oh we went down to sing,

The tales of the past,

We danced into the stars,
The Carnival is ours.
