Gloomy Street

'A Tale of Freedom'

You're crawling down to Gloomy Street,
You're oh so hungry but you don't want to eat,
You're oh so tired but you dare not sleep,
On Gloomy Street.

The liquors a light, the drugs are on fire,
The man on the street has you hooked by the wire,
You're oh so quiet and you're wondering how,
This came to be.

You're playing the man with a flush in your hand,
You lost all your money to an ace and a crown,
Your gambling ways will whore you,
'Till you burn.

But don't fear,
My dear,
The streets are dancing,
And the far is near,
You belong here,
'Cause it's where this world,
Is free.

You're dreaming of what might have been,
If you sold out now and joined the scene,
But money and fame is just another name,
For pain.

So make mistakes outside the street,
You belong here with the other freaks,
Why don't you go and take a seat,
With me.

You see the thing about Gloomy Street,
The lights are alive for eternity,
The perfect world is where the devil preys,
Anyhow.

So don't fear,
My dear,
The streets are dancing,
And the far is near,
You belong here,
'Cause it's where this world,
Is free.

You lost it all, but a brush in your hand,
An ace in the pack you just don't understand,
What's success without failure,
Anyway.
